Filing for Unemployment Insurance Benefits?
The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency has one official website to assist unemployed workers:
www.michigan.gov/uia. Many other websites
(with deceptively similar Internet addresses) offer unemployment insurance information for a fee. The
Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency provides all services at no charge and urges individuals to
either visit the official website, call 866-500-0017 Option 3, or visit their local Unemployment
Insurance Problem Resolution Office for help.
Although Michigan Works! assists the Unemployment Insurance Agency in registering your claim, Michigan
Works is not a state agency and cannot answer questions or give advice regarding the status of your
benefits. Please direct all inquiries to the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency.
Special Resources
Special employment resources are available for veterans, individuals
with disabilities, and migrant/seasonal farm workers. And they are
all available at Michigan Works. Please take a moment to explore the
